  • West Wind Harbour Cohousing

    We are a group of independent households developing a beautiful property on Sooke Harbour that enjoys expansive water and mountain views with amenities a quick walk away in the village core. Our mission is to establish a vibrant community of architecturally innovative, environmentally sound, strata-titled condos with extensive common facilities that encourage neighbourly interaction while respecting individual autonomy and privacy—an environment that will enrich our lives now and well into our later years, supporting each other to remain independent as we grow in creative community. We have applied for the necessary re-zoning for a single, low-rise (maximum 6 stories) apartment-style building with 32 fully independent strata-titled units. As of May 2017, we have 13 equity members and 2 associate member households.   • Heddlestone Village

    Heddlestone Village is a multigeneratonal cohousing community near Nelson, BC. Our 24 households include 28 children, their parents and in some cases their grandparents. Our community is enriched by having residents from many parts of the world. The community includes 12 duplexes situated on a sunny and spacious shelf with a view down the lake towards Nelson. It is subdivided as a strata and includes the collective use of a 5000 sq/f common house with a communal kitchen, where six meals a week are shared in the dinning room. The common house also includes a children’s play room, a teen room, two guest rooms, a library lounge, and a recreation room. There is also 24 acres of ample outdoor space to run free.

  • Perth Cohousing Initiative

    In Perth we are creating a cohousing community of people 55 and over who look forward to living well in an atmosphere of caring and support.  Our modest dwellings, located within walking distance of downtown Perth and built in an environmentally responsible way, will provide privacy and promote a lifestyle founded on concern for the well-being of each other, the environment and the wider world.

  • Radiance Cohousing

    Radiance includes 8 privately-owned townhouses ranging in size. We are building to meet Passive House standards and will be net-zero ready. Indoor common space will have a kitchen and guest room, and be used for potlucks, community events, and entertainment. Our outdoor common space will have a cooking area with seating room, and include garden plots, fruit trees, native plants, and water conserving features. Radiance Cohousing will be located at 401 Avenue L South.

  • Waterloo Region Cohousing Ecovillage

    Description: We are creating a sustainable cohousing ecovillage community in the Waterloo Region in Ontario, Canada. Our plan is to build 30 homes combining the advantage of privacy and shared common facilities. We manage ourselves through consensus decision making.   Our Vision: We envision courageous, innovative communities in which people actively care for each other and the environment.   Our Mission: We are building a sustainable, intergenerational neighbourhood that is socially and economically inclusive, we positively engage with each other and the wider community.   Guiding Principals: – Sustainable – Inclusive – Affordable – Participatory/Engaged – Innovative/Dynamic   Location: As of Spring 2017, the group is planning to build a cohousing community in an urban location in Kitchener or Waterloo. The majority of the group remains flexibile and will explore suitable properties on the outskirts of Kitchener or Waterloo or in urban Guelph.

We are designing and building a sustainable cohousing community in a walkable, bikeable North Vancouver location.  We are creating a diverse, inclusive, resilient community that balances privacy and a deeper connection with our neighbours, for a simpler life.

    Birchwood Cohousing, multi-generational community, on 10- acre woodland with sunny aspect and mountain vistas in all directions. Adjoins Tyhee Lake Provincial Park; within walking distance of Village of Telkwa; 10-minute drive to Smithers. Many outdoor recreational opportunities: world-class fly fishing; downhill, cross-country and backcountry skiing; scores of hiking trails in nearby mountains, including Babine Mountains Provincial Park. The valley hosts a rich art and music culture.

    We have created a wonderful community for older adults on the edge of Saskatoon’s revitalized cultural core that is within walking/biking distance of most of our needs (completed Dec 2012). A charming bike and pedestrian trail runs the length of our street and connects with the riverside trail system. We have two homes available for sale. Individuals or couples interested in our project are invited to contact us.

  • Prairie Spruce Commons

    Prairie Spruce Commons is working with a Regina architect and a developer to create a beautiful, sustainable, apartment-style green building, with abundant common spaces. Located on Badham Boulevard near downtown Regina within easy walk/wheeling distance of many amenities. Construction is now underway with completion expected in late summer of 2018. This multi-generational community is committed to inclusiveness, caring, and sharing. We are currently welcoming new members and pre-selling units. At present we have six units not spoken for.

  • Canopy Cohousing

    Canopy plans to build a neighbourhood that supports social interaction and sustainability. We want to raise our children in a safe and nurturing environment. We believe in an ecologically sustainable lifestyle and will make environmentally responsible choices whenever possible. We’re looking forward to a community with diverse ages, ethnicities, interests, abilities, incomes, relationships and spiritual beliefs. Canopy welcomes enquiries from young homeowners, boomers who may downsize and elders wanting to shape this vision and grow older together in community. We expect to launch our land search this year.

  • Terra Firma Cohousing

    Location: Ottawa, ON

    Terra Firma is a small cohousing project located in the centre of the city and close to the Rideau Canal. In 1997 we bought and subsequently renovated two three-door townhouses. We have since built an infill between the two buildings which houses a seventh residential unit and our common space, which is used to host a great variety of events and activities, in addition to dinners. A solar hot water installation provides heat and hot water to the common space and three units, and hot water to an additional unit. From the common space we have also created a lovely walkout area that contains a hot tub. Our large common yard has many shared amenities (play structures, treehouse, gardens, quiet sitting area, bicycle and storage sheds, composting bins, wood pile). Adjacent neighbours join us twice a week to eat. It’s a great place to live!

  • Convivium Cohousing

    We are developing a purpose-built community that will facilitate aging in community for approximately 35 older adults and seniors in central Ottawa. It will involve co-care, some collective dining, self-governance and volunteer work. The cohousing project will provide 20 -25 apartment units with common space, shared resources, and parking. It will be self financed through contributions to development costs and purchase of units.  We have enough members at the moment but are maintaining a waiting list.

    Vancouver, cohousing opened in late Feb 2016. This is a site in an old traditional neighbourhood, walkable to a vibrant commercial center with coffee shops, preschools, and amenities. We have a mixed community of 31 units with many young children, parents, seniors and single folks. There has been a great deal of interest and we have a substantial waiting list for units. The building sold out well before move in date.

    Award winning apartment/townhome condominum located in a vibrant urban area across the inlet from Vancouver. Completed August, 1998. The stained glass windows, wood doors and oak floors from the homes that were originally on the site were recycled and included in the design and the building has a state-of-the-art greywater recycling system. Homes have panoramic views of the North Shore mountains, the skyline of downtown Vancouver & Burrard Inlet.

  • Pacific Gardens

    Pacific Gardens is located on 4.37 acres of former farmland, with extensive green space, a pond, and heritage apple trees.  The property is close to a park along the salmon-bearing Chase River, with wonderful views of Mount Benson.  Even though we’re five minutes from downtown, you’d never know it – it feels like you’re living in the middle of a forest. We’re within walking distance of two elementary schools and a high school, and close to Vancouver Island University and a sports complex with a pool, ice arena, and playing fields. A special feature of Pacific Gardens is our glass-ceilinged inner atrium, a covered pedestrian street that connects all units to the Common House, which has a children’s play room, as well as a large kitchen with two fridges, two stoves and a commercial dishwasher, a dining/events room, a conversation lounge, a soundproof music room, and rooms for crafts, woodworking, and exercise – plus two guest rooms for when you come to visit us! We also have organic gardens, both individual and communal. If you love to garden or just enjoy being around gardens and parks this is the place for you!

    Completed in 1996 with owner-built homes and a Common House on 50 acres above Kootenay Lake. Households own their own lots plus equal share in approximately 25 commonly held acres. The Common House is a renovated barn with kitchen, dining space, guest room, office and children’s play areas, and a newly added fitness centre. We share 2 meals per week in the common house. Our mandate is to build a neighbourhood of strata-titled housing for seniors that is affordable, environmentally friendly, and socially/culturally supportive, allowing people to flourish through mutual support as they age in place and in community.

    Completed summer 2007, our 2-5 bedroom duplex homes are clustered in three neighbourhoods radiating from our timber-beamed common house, green-roofed workshop and peripheral parking area. The land is gently sloped and bright, with developing gardens, orchards, children’s play areas, paths and ponds. These commons are accessible and naturally landscaped for use by our whole multi-generational community. Creekside Commons has also placed paths through an adjacent 4-acre park with a footbridge across Piercy Creek giving access to downtown. Respect for the natural environment has been a priority for all development decisions.

    Belterra is a beautiful property within a 15 minute walk of the village of Snug Cove on Bowen Island (a 20 minute ferry ride from West Vancouver). The site has sloping open meadows, forested areas, steeper rocky bluffs with exceptional ocean and mountain views and a year round creek. Our goal is to create an affordable eco-village while preserving the natural features of the land.

    Our group is incorporated as an equity cooperative under Alberta’s new cooperatives legislation. Our project consists of apartments, townhouses, and a common house that surround a central courtyard with community gardens and a children’s play area on a ¾ acre inner city site. The common house contains a kitchen, dining room, lounge, children’s play room, teen room, laundry, guest room, office, studio, workshop, and storage. Parking is underground. Construction was completed in spring of 2003.
