    In Perth we are creating a cohousing community of people 55 and over who look forward to living well in an atmosphere of caring and support.  Our modest dwellings, located within walking distance of downtown Perth and built in an environmentally responsible way, will provide privacy and promote a lifestyle founded on concern for the well-being of each other, the environment and the wider world.

  • Waterloo Region Cohousing Ecovillage

    Description: We are creating a sustainable cohousing ecovillage community in the Waterloo Region in Ontario, Canada. Our plan is to build 30 homes combining the advantage of privacy and shared common facilities. We manage ourselves through consensus decision making.   Our Vision: We envision courageous, innovative communities in which people actively care for each other and the environment.   Our Mission: We are building a sustainable, intergenerational neighbourhood that is socially and economically inclusive, we positively engage with each other and the wider community.   Guiding Principals: – Sustainable – Inclusive – Affordable – Participatory/Engaged – Innovative/Dynamic   Location: As of Spring 2017, the group is planning to build a cohousing community in an urban location in Kitchener or Waterloo. The majority of the group remains flexibile and will explore suitable properties on the outskirts of Kitchener or Waterloo or in urban Guelph.

  • Canopy Cohousing

    Location: Toronto, Ontario

    Canopy plans to build a neighbourhood that supports social interaction and sustainability. We want to raise our children in a safe and nurturing environment. We believe in an ecologically sustainable lifestyle and will make environmentally responsible choices whenever possible. We’re looking forward to a community with diverse ages, ethnicities, interests, abilities, incomes, relationships and spiritual beliefs. Canopy welcomes enquiries from young homeowners, boomers who may downsize and elders wanting to shape this vision and grow older together in community. We expect to launch our land search this year.

  • Terra Firma Cohousing

    Location: Ottawa, ON

    Terra Firma is a small cohousing project located in the centre of the city and close to the Rideau Canal. In 1997 we bought and subsequently renovated two three-door townhouses. We have since built an infill between the two buildings which houses a seventh residential unit and our common space, which is used to host a great variety of events and activities, in addition to dinners. A solar hot water installation provides heat and hot water to the common space and three units, and hot water to an additional unit. From the common space we have also created a lovely walkout area that contains a hot tub. Our large common yard has many shared amenities (play structures, treehouse, gardens, quiet sitting area, bicycle and storage sheds, composting bins, wood pile). Adjacent neighbours join us twice a week to eat. It’s a great place to live!

  • Convivium Cohousing

    We are developing a purpose-built community that will facilitate aging in community for approximately 35 older adults and seniors in central Ottawa. It will involve co-care, some collective dining, self-governance and volunteer work. The cohousing project will provide 20 -25 apartment units with common space, shared resources, and parking. It will be self financed through contributions to development costs and purchase of units.  We have enough members at the moment but are maintaining a waiting list.
