Cariboo Cohousing

Quesnel, British Columbia

Cariboo Cohousing is a developing community in Quesnel, BC. While we have not assigned any age restrictions to our community, the current members are retired, or close to retirement, so the community may have this predominant slant. We are focused on healthy, successful aging in a community that supports and encourages socializing, being active and continuous learning.

Cariboo Cohousing will ideally be situated on 4-6 acres within the city boundaries, and we have identified a handful of properties which interest us. We hope to have 15-20 households and are open to all or a mix of single homes, duplexes, triplexes or a multi-unit building. Being situated in the interior of BC, we have 4 distinct seasons, with winter being the most prominent, so designing our community around this reality is a priority. We would like to have a common house that has, along with the kitchen and dining area, nooks/rooms for a library, arts and crafts, music, exercise and woodworking.

Quesnel and area has a population of 25,000. We are surrounded by forests, lakes, and mountains, and recreational opportunities lie within easy reach. Quesnel has affordable housing, accessible amenities, and short commutes. We have a lively arts community and active sports and volunteer groups, providing many opportunities for everyone to be involved and to thrive.

Cariboo Cohousing welcomes all who want to live in a small town setting, among friends old and new, who will be happy exploring the adventures and opportunities the next few decades will bring.
