Kawartha Commons
In 2018, a group of likeminded people came together to form Kawartha Commons Cohousing, with the goal of building a cohousing community in Peterborough, Ontario, a small, vibrant city about an hour’s drive from Toronto We now have 12 member households. We have different backgrounds and interests, but we are all committed to supporting each other as we live life to the fullest, and to building a community that is open and welcoming to all.
We are delighted to report that we have contracted to purchase a property near downtown Peterborough, and are currently working on site design, an exciting and challenging process, as well as carrying out the surveys and studies required by the city prior to construction (a less exciting but equally challenging process). We are aiming for a low-rise apartment building, with a variety of unit sizes and common areas, surrounded by lots of green space, for approximately 40 households.
