Coquitlam Cohousing’s Getting It Built Workshop
Oct. 15 & 16 2022. 10:00 am PT | Vancouver, BC
Check out Coquitlam Cohousing!
The Cohousing “Getting It Built” weekend workshop is October 15 & 16 from 10am to 4:30pm at the Coquitlam Library on Pinetree, and can also support people attending by zoom. We will talk about how cohousing works, and about the rare opportunity to start the first cohousing in Coquitlam.
The Coquitlam Cohousing site is stellar – a walkable location within two blocks of the Coquitlam Crunch exercise path, bus stops, a garden centre, auto repair, a pub and a Persian restaurant. It’s a close walk to elementary, middle and secondary schools, the skytrain, the hospital, grocery store, Starbucks, Port Moody Recreation Centre, Value Village, and the library. Pine Tree Community Centre, the Aquatic Centre, Douglas College, Moody Centre West Coast Express are a 30 minute walk away.
More than the location and the design, people who live in cohousing report that it’s the community that is the most valuable part of cohousing. Participatory decision making, having meaningful connections with neighbours, and having the joy and belonging of being part of an intentional community that values you and your contribution. Its a great way to raise kids and teens, and to age in place, and all stages in between. Pets welcome!
Members joining now will be influential in shaping the culture of our community and experience the excitement of seeing the community being built. Our common denominator is that we all share a desire to live in a neighbourhood that fosters an active and supportive community lifestyle. We plan to share and enjoy many meals together in our common house.
